Routes and Branches Play List 02/06/10

I was surprised and pleased this week when I took a look at the Americana Chart.

Pleased by seeing Ray Wylie Hubbard sitting at the top with his CD A. Enlightenment B. Endarkenment (Hint: There Is No C). I have been listening to Hubbard's music for so many years that I can't remember when I started. His new CD has some great song writing and deserves to be at the top of the charts.

I was surprised to see Allison Moorer's new CD Crows sitting at number nine on the chart. When I first listened to it, nothing really jumped out at me saying "I'm Americana music". Instead it felt more main stream to pop type songs. Now that it is getting so much air play on "Americana Stations" I think that I will have to give it a closer listen.

A number of good concerts are on our concert calendar in the next few weeks. I featured several up coming performers on this week's show.
