Routes & Branches 3/30/13

Some good groups are on their way to Eugene. Last night I caught The California Honeydrops and Frution over at Cosmic. They were all great!
I started today's show with Poor Man's Whiskey and a couple of tracks from their 'Dark Side of The Moonshine' which they will be performing here in Eugene in a couple of weeks. In between now and then  The Steep Canyon Rangers, The Shook Twins and Keller Williams along with several others perform here. I love radio, but live music is always best. Get out and enjoy it!

Routes & Branches 3/23/13

This week I had the pleasure of playing a sampling of 'Skydog', the new 7 disc retrospective of Duane Allman's career. Allman certainly ranks up there as one of my favorite guitarists of all time. Like many folks, my knowledge of Allman's music mostly revolved around his work with the Allman Brothers band that he and his brother Greg formed. This new retrospective has helped me to realize the vast number of recordings that Allman was a part of over his career. We can all be thankful for recordings like this, keeping the music we love playing for generations to come.

Routes & Branches 3/2/13

I had a couple of local groups into the studio this week. Local Eugene band, The Whiskey Chasers brought by their new Cd "Well For The Worse" which talked about and listened to an original and an a couple of covers of traditional tunes. The Whiskey Chasers have been playing around Eugene for several years now attracting quite a following so it wonderful to have this Cd to support their music on the radio.
In my second hour the band The Cat Like Reflexes stopped in and played a few tunes from a forthcoming  Cd to be released later this spring. The Cat Like Reflexes are mainly a duo who occasionally add a 3rd member. They said that their live performances are a little more rock than what they performed in our studio acoustically. I look forward to hearing the Cd when they get it out.
